On 21st October an absolutely exclusive presentation was held in the new Alexander Mcqueen store in Moscow, where guests and friends of the brand could see inspiring clutches that were created by maestro Lee Alexander Mcqueen. And as I am the biggest fan of the fashion house I couldn’t stay aside and yesterday after Laroom fashion show during MBFW Russia I went to the recently opened boutique to see the gorgeous pieces in the real life.
The new store opened just a few months ago and this was my first visit. Quite spacious store, made in the spirit of European boutiques of the brand, the absolute symmetry of the room created a special attractivness, and the black marble floor with white cracks transformed the whole boutique into the different universe with its secrets and dangers. Actually, this was Lee McQueen himself: a mysterious, dangerous and crazy. The last thing everyone know firsthand: you have to be an ardent fanatic and absolutely insane to do so stunning, delicate and fascinating things, which have no analogues in the world. And a collection of clutches, which was brought into the Moscow boutique and which was created by the founder of the brand, is the living proof of this. Studded with stones and beads, embroidered with gold thread and lace, made from satin and natural leather of wild reptiles, with solid knuckle-handles, decorated with butterflies, roses and of course skulls – each clutch is a work of art can be viewed endlessly. And glass flasks, where the “beautiful creatures” were placed, created the impression that I was in the castle of Frankenstein, where you can find a huge number of obscure and frightening things: bugs, dead giant butterflies, poisonous roses with sharp thorns and dead plants. The theme of death in the work of McQueen has always been dominant, and here in the atmosphere of cold luxury, these artificial, inanimate nature and beauty were especially felt . And this can not attract.
The Mcqueen’s clutches will be presented in the store until 28th October. The works of Sarah Burton, creative director of the brand, are also presented in the store.
